Ace the SATs
THE CHALLENGE
Your daughter has recently taken the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and is anxious to learn if her scores are sufficient to grant her admission to a prestigious university. The Educational Testing Organization (ETS) offers a phone service that allows students to obtain their exam scores earlier than would normally be the case. They charge a modest fee for this service.
THE SOLUTION
When your daughter dials the number, a friendly voice prompts her to state her registration number. It then asks her to state when and where she took take the exam, and verifies her identity by asking for the last four digits of her security number. The system then recites her math and verbal scores, as well as her combined score.
Rather than having a user input information like a date and location using the telephone (DTMF) keypad, the ETS application uses automatic speech recognition (ASR). ASR technology enables a fast, user-friendly interface that minimizes call time for both the caller and the called party.
The ASR technology required to build this application is available today on the CT platform .
