Online Analytical Processing

OLAP stands for Online Analytical Processing, also known as slicing and dicing of data or multidimensional data analysis. This application style offers high-performance access to large amounts of summarized data for complex multidimensional analysis and easy reporting.

What is an MDDB?

An MDDB is a specialized data storage facility that stores summarized data for fast and easy access. Users can quickly view large amounts of data as a value at any cross-section of business dimensions. A business dimension can be any vision of the data that makes sense, such as time, geography, or product. Users create and update multidimensional databases using Orchestra Explorer software. Once an MDDB is created.

OVER VIEW:

The main button bar provides the major functional interface to the EIS application. Moving the mouse pointer over any of the buttons in this bar will cause a help text string to be displayed in the main status bar of the screen.

CONNECTOR ICON

When pressed this button will open EIS Login dialogue, which can then be used for entry of a server, user name, password and the selection of an available data source.

LOGIN WINDOW:

   1. Every User has his own Account.
   2. If you are not an authorized user ,a message box stating "Invalid User Id/Password" is
       displayed.
   3. A single user cannot login on two machines at a time. It displays a message "User has already
       logged in"

DISCONNECTED ICON

When this button is pressed the present user is logged off from the system.

   1. If you had logged in as one user id now wanted to enter as different user . click on this button
       then again click on connector button.

BUSINESS MODEL ICON

When pressed this button will open the Business model window that allows users to build EIS reports using drag and drop.

SYSTEM OBJECTS ICON

When pressed this button will open the System object window that allows users to select the preferred parameters to build EIS reports using drag and drop.

USER OBJECTS ICON

When pressed this button will open the User Object window ,Which displays user defined report and filter objects.

JOB STATUS ICON:

When pressed this button will open the Job Status window, that displays the status of various jobs submitted by the user.

NEW REPORT ICON

When pressed this button will open the Report Builder window, Which allows users to define their own Report in terms of Dimensions and Facts by drag & drop.

NEW FILTER ICON

When pressed this button will open the Filter Builder window. Which allows users to define their own logical conditions and constraints in terms of elements or metric and their values.

OPEN USER OBJECT ICON

When pressed this button will open the User Object window.

CASCADE WINDOW ICON

This button will cascades the active Screens.

CASE TILE ICON

When pressed this button will open the Job Status tool.

ARRANGE ELEMENTS ICON

This button will arrange the elements which are active in an order.

GRAPH ICON

This button shows the graphical view of the report.

EXIT ICON

This button disconnects from the current data source and Quits the application.

GENERATION OF REPORT

            3. SELECTION OF SYSTEM OBJECTS
            4. SELECTION OF USER OBJECTS
            5. FILLING OF REPORT BUILDER

BUSINESS MODEL

            1. This screen shows list of Business models.
            2.Select the particular Business model which you would like to generate a report.
            3.You cannot open two Business models at a time.

SYSTEM OBJECTS

            1.Consists of parameters ,namely Dimensionshbl_dimensions and facts
            2.Using these parameters ,the analysis are made.
